Multiseason/Special Permits
« on: April 23, 2018, 09:48:21 AM »
Long time hunter but rookie to permits so bare with me for a minute......And I have read the 2018 regs just a little confused  :dunno:

Buy either a Modern, Muzzle, Archery deer tag = Put in for those weapon permits only?

Buy Multi season tag (yes I was drawn) = Put in for any permit?

I assume it is the same for elk as well?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, purchase the multi first, then apply for the permits.

You are correct. You must purchase the MS tags prior to applying for special permits in order to apply in multiple weapon categories. You still only get the same amount of choices/app.

I would say that would depend on if there are any unclaimed left over after the deadline to sell...small chance there will be a 100% sell-out.

So, it is likely there will be a small number of elk and probably a fair amount of deer availible as has been the case in the past.

I think you only need to purchase the general tag to apply for special hunts.  Later in the summer, if you weren't drawn a special hunt, you can still purchase the MS tag prior to 01 Aug.

You can apply for special hunts with a general tag, but not in multiple weapons categories: only in the category of the tag.

Probably worth mentioning that any multi- season tags that are not purchased by successful applicants are only made available to non-selected applicants from the initial drawing.

:yeah:  That is the only reason for applying for the deer MS tag drawing.  They should instead just add the $12 fee (or whatever the cost is to submit for the MS drawing) to the price of the MS tag, and sell it OTC and do away with that drawing altogether.   Must be a money thing  :chuckle:
