Electric Slicer ?

What brand and size slicers do you guys and gals love?  I only have occasional use and currently own the Cabelas 8.7” commercial grade, but it’s going back today because it’s garbage...

Go 12".  I have an old Globe I picked up from a catering business that was folding.  It's a beast.  I think it would slice steel.

How smooth is it to operate?  My complaint with the Cabelas slicer was that it was clunky or jittery to use.  I lubed the pieces that moved, and tried to loosen things, tighten things, etc, and it was always really hard to use and I was always worried I was gonna force something until it gave and then lose a fingertip!

I have an old rival slicer that everyone had in the 70's or 80's,  it was dull dull dull and wouldn't slice.


I got out the work sharp and tuned that blade up good, now it's a bacon slicing fool, but I don't use the sliding tray, I just slide the bacon across the frame and keep my fingers out the way

I found one in a recycle years back, thing was well used but solid!  Needed a little work to be perfect, but it was overall a beast as NRA4LIFE said. Mine was a size or so up from his n weighed close to 100lbs. Tried to get rid of it on here n no takers n finally gave it to a guy in Wenatchee about 3 years ago because it was taking up too much space n I never used it. They don’t make them like that any longer!

It is solid as a rock when slicing.  Doesn't budge at all.  If I had to guess, it weighs somewhere between 80-90 lbs.  It doesn't get moved much.

That's the one I have KF. Was wondering about sharpening the blade. Did you do it on the machine while it was running or take it off for the work sharp?

I took off all the guards and guides but left the slicer blade attached, turned it on and held the running work sharp to the spinning blade it at an angle.  Makes a huge difference!
