Yes.
Take big glass on a tripod.
It will save miles walked.
Find the burns.
I would recommend SCOUTING for elk a few days before the season and killing on the opener.

2many that is exactly what we are doing, season opens on a Tuesday and we will be on the mountain the Sunday before. I've heard good things about the burns, also use we have a couple of good spotters and some tripod bino set ups.
