I understand just fine. Example of what I’m talking about. 22 non Rez applicants making a straight donation

If you understand the system, why are you calling it a donation?  Because the odds are low?

Just thumb through the draw odds. The non rez average for drawing is literally 0% (that’s with the 6 non rez guys that drew a sheep tag last year) You actually have a better chance of drawing a sheep tag with the point system in Washington as a resident

But they all have a chance, the odds are low, but its not a "donation".  Its a chance at a sheep tag for any non-resident that applies for any of the sheep units...including the highly coveted Unit 11 tag.

Idaho sheep odds in 2017: 9 tags for 1,722 NR applicants

Washington Sheep: 17 tags for 12,254 applicants.

Maybe if you have 15+ points your odds are equal or slightly better...maybe. For anyone in Washington with less than about 2 decades of points right now, your odds are higher in Idaho as a NR.

I will gladly donate 2100 dollars to the state of Idaho when I draw my goat tag 👍 if not draw there’s a refund check in the mail.

Yes and no. If you've already made the commitment that you're going to hunt an Idaho OTC tag and you have money enough for the OIL tag, you're only out the price of the application fee each year. Yeah, you have to front the cost of the tag when you apply but if you don't draw it they refund you the money. Considering that I put in for deer, elk, and antelope each year and would only be able to put in for the OIL tag instead of those, it becomes more of a wash financially.

Cash will be freed up for Idaho OILs after this year.  Hard though when the odds are so decent for deer and elk hunts.

I'll happily "donate" to IDFG until I draw

Spring Bear was 7 days later this year and Turkey was 20 days later than in 2017.

With the new admin system, published post by date of June 10, I'd bank on at least another 2-3 week wait.

But, I also wouldn't mind being proven wrong too...

wow Idaho  actually has controlled turkey tags? wth you can shoot 5 where I live usually with one shot Do we really need a limited entry turkey hunt Must be managing for really monster birds ha ha. I don't even know why we have a controlled bear hunt but turkeys? I guess some guys are addicted to the draw.  It will be first week of june for results

the only one am aware of is the unit just south of me (so basically meridian)  if it wasn't controlled the Boise river green belt would be a war zone in April and all the birds would be gone in a week since you can basically shoot them form the shoulder of state street. only reason I could ever figure on the controlled turkey.
