Nancy Creek fall bear
« on: May 01, 2018, 05:07:10 AM »
Good morning I am a Pa. hunter in quest of a color phase bear. I have shot seven black ones of which 3 are full body mounts,I would like a colored full mount to put with them.I have been ripped off twice on guided hunts so this is a DIY hunt(no longer trust lying outfitters). If anyone cares to give a Pa. hunter some info.(other than stay home)it would be greatly appreciated! We will be hunting the Nancy Creek area in the fall. thanks in advance  Bill

Good Luck on your hunt and quest for a color phased bear.

@bearpaw the sites owner, sells maps of areas he has knowledge in.

I am not sure if he covers this area, but it may be worth a PM to him to discuss it.

Here is one of my color phase bears.  Best of luck in your quest.

I've hunted that area.  Should be fun for you.  Since you're probably limited on scouting, I would definitely reach out to Bearpaw about his maps.

Bearpaw is extremely reputable on this site and in the state of Washington.

It sounds like you have never hunted bear in WA. Curious why you chose the Nancy Creek area?

I now live in Michigan but I lived in Walla Walla, WA for more than 20 years and did a lot of bear hunting in the Blue Mountains of SE WA state and NE Oregon. Most bears in that area are color phased. Of the 9 bears I killed in the Blues and many that my brother and friends have shot none were black.

They grow some big bears in Pennsylvania from what I hear. We would love to hear some of your bear hunt stories and see some pics!

Best of luck on your quest for a color phase. I have yet to get a blonde one although there are plenty of them in the Blue Mountains (just seemed like most of them were small). I have taken chocolate and cinnamon and black (the 2 black ones I got were from AK and Idaho).
