Pontoon Boats
« on: May 09, 2018, 01:47:55 PM »
Anyone else row one? I had one for years that I used in the lakes around Snohomish back before I got my sled. I've been thinking about picking up another one, and possibly a second one for the wife. I am thinking I might like to float the Sky this summer/fall if I go through with it, wanted to see if anyone here has one and fishes the rivers with it and would be interested in hooking up at some point for a float. It would surly make the turnaround at the bottom a little more convenient.

I've used a small one on lakes and floating the Yakima.  They are okay on lakes and ponds if there is little-to-no wind, but I found it maddening as hell to try and navigate and fly-fish on the river unless you're just using it to hop from one hole to the next.    Too much going on to relax.  A nice flat bottomed drift boat is the only way to go on rivers.

Fishing from a pontoon can be very effective even in rivers.  One thing to consider is wearing flippers while you're fishing.  It helps to be able to control yourself when you hook into a fish until you get to shore.  Just a thought.

Personally, I won't use fins in a river because of the small chance a foot could get caught on something below the surface.

Had a guy message me wanting to trade a Bucks Bags Southfork plus $100 cash for my little aluminum boat, can't really pass that up.
