Any tricked out Livingston 14s out there?
« on: May 03, 2018, 04:30:57 PM »
I saw a Livingston 14 on a trailer the other day and then went down an internet wormhole looking at modifications people have done to those boats, including T-tops, windshields, etc.  Seem like a an inexpensive and versatile option.  I'm thinking Puget Sound, Sekiu, mid-Columbia, Willapa Bay, Skagit ducks, etc.  Definitely wouldn't want to take it across the bar or anything like that.

I'm not particularly serious about pulling the trigger on one right now, but would love to see some photos if anyone has them set up to fish.

I wanted one bad they out class most boats matching length for weight capacity and with the tri hull they are extremely stable. Everytime I found one it never got past looking cause when I tried to pull the trigger it was sold. Now I've got a 15' run about that I can only fish bigwater lakes with, the gunwales so high I have to have a dock to get in. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't hesitate and just buy.

I have a 12T and it is pretty amazing.  We had it out in the strait salmon fixing on year and it did great.  Very stable boats and easy to fish out of .

I had a 14' Livingston for a few years.  I bought it from a guy who owned a Marina in the Vancouver area.  He had customized this Livingston. He cut the hump out of the middle and fibreglass's in a 2x12 board flush with the gunnels on either side.  I put in a couple pedestal seats.  It was a great boat.  Lots of room and  super stable. I regret selling it.

steelhead catching machine right there!  That boat was part of the infamous 64 fish night.  So much death :chuckle:

That's a cool looking rig.  How far down did the hump get cut down?  Did it affect the performance at all?

I’ve got one just over 13ft. Have had it for about 6 yrs or so does great in the lakes and out crabbing. I have a older 20hp Johnson for crabbing otherwise my 55lb thrust electric does just fine in lakes. I do contemplate selling it and getting something a little bigger but this thing is stable as heck! I painted it yrs back for duck hunting, though the inside is peeling nowadays and not enough time to sand it down and respray.
