3pt or better law
« on: May 08, 2018, 09:24:06 PM »
So with the definition of 3pt or better it does not matter now if none of the points are above the ear just as long as it has 3pts on one side over an inch long each it is legal? I know I see spikes every year that have a bunch of little inch to two inch long nobs at the base that IF I am reading it correctly are now legal.

3 Point Minimum: A 3 Pt Min elk means that
a legal elk in these GMUs must have at
least 3 antler points on one side Eye guards
are antler points when they are at least one
inch long A 1x3 and a 2x3 are legal elk in
a 3 Pt Min unit Antler restrictions apply
to all hunters during any open season

The above the ear requirement has been removed.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I'm sure someone contested that above the ear ticket and won , wdfw figured they had to change it.

It's good to see the change, I brought this up last year after watching the game warden show. A kid shot an elk that had 3 pts but he got cited and his elk taken away. An eyeguard counts on a deer but not an elk!?  :bash: Glad it's been updated!!
Shut up and Hunt!

So I went and looked at the link you put.
So your saying that some footage on tv may have made wdfw look bad ,and promted a rule change.
Thanks for link.

Not what I was implying but that's pretty funny! I think the way the rule was written along with antler point definitions was getting folks into trouble unnecessarily.
Shut up and Hunt!
