Any new ones??
« on: May 09, 2018, 07:30:18 PM »
Quiet around here! Anyone finding anything lately ? I’m headed back out tomorrow for the last time for about 6 weeks for me. Headed out on a cross country road trip.. I’ll be back in July to get in some backcountry scouting for muzzy elk season..
I went out twice last weekend and got skunked both times.. My brother found a tiny 2pt elk shed (about 3 yrs old) and my nephew found a nice little 3 pt deer shed (probably 2-3 years old as well) . Found a few skulls and the nephews thought those were pretty cool, but nothing for me!

Shed hunters on this forum are very tight lipped about their success.  Seems everyone wants to know where you shed hunt.  I've seen a few negative posts when someone finds a lot of big antlers.  Not sure if this is what happened, but one forum member was being followed when he went out, so he quit posting altogether.

:yeah: x2. I was leery about posting, but at the same time I enjoy seeing others pics and contributions and wanted to share. Blanking out any background and keeping the "stunners" under cloak and dagger seemed like a reasonable compromise. I always thought the being followed thing was a myth, the idea seemed foreign, but its not. I sold my main rig. Now I use 3 or 4 different options :chuckle: Maybe I am paranoid, but the dog and I work our butts off, lots of miles on boots and rigs, not to mention time. Its a shame that some folks don't grasp that its the work far more than the location that makes it a success.

Amen. Bv how’s the dog working out? I’ve got a new pup coming next week, pretty exited to have a new hiking buddy as my other lab has been retired for several years

Congratz on the new one

She is doing well, I am pleased so far. She is crazy driven, persistent and trainable. For her first year I cant complain to much, she has blind picked several, and keyed me in on a couple. Besides being a solid companion. Only glitch was the eastside terrain and heat is tough on her feet, I should have taken better note. She did great but 3ish days of high mileage and she ended up saddle sore for a couple days

I don't do the shed hunting thing but I can see how your spots would be coveted. The only downside to that is the lack of sharing your passion with someone else. Thank God for your dogs huh they are the best at keeping secrets.

Lead em if they're running.
