Ive talked about this from my Mt climbing days, but here is an article that backs it up.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

I've also heard story's of goats getting shot and falling into areas that are almost impossible to get to. By the time they get to them the animal is wasted. As its only once in a life time i wouldn't want to remember it with a wasted animal and only have the horns to bring home.

They are also very tough animals. By buddies soaked up 2 well placed shots from a 300 weatherby and still walked over the nob to die. both bullets stopped in the hide on the opposing side distance was around 180 yards.

Mine took one .300 win mag shot and never blinked DRT at 90 yards. Bullet did not exit. 180 grain accubond.

Best course of action regardless is to shoot them as long as they're standing.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

My buddies was bedded slightly quartering away he placed a great shot the billy flinched got up and started walking over the knob so he put one more in him and we got about the same affect. Maybe a shoulder shot would have sat him down sooner but that was impressive.
