Rather than a witness, why don't they just be transparent with all the public?  There is this secrecy with when the draw is taking place and when a witness is asked to come in that I simply don't understand.

Put an update in big bold letters right on the website a daily status update...then when the draw is done, post a link to every detail and piece of information out there...what computer, contractor, program was used for the draw...any audits or certifications done...list of all eligible and selected applicants...on and on.

Can anyone explain why that doesn't happen in this day and age?  That would be transparency.
Everything you said here is a great idea except the name part.Because the name of people in the draw doesn't need to be public for any reason. In fact the draw should be off the wild id number and not name at all.  :twocents: The wild id number of the applicants and the selected ok i can go with that.
I would say the name part is most critical...knowing who ends up with tags ensures no funny business.  If you don't want your name published, don't apply for public resources.
Really,Some of the anti hunting groups would love to have this info.Which group do you belong?Hunters get harassed enough as it is and they don't know who ALL are hunters. At 1 job i had for a short time i had to hide the fact that i hunted just to stay long enough to find another.
All of that info, and more is just a records request away...
Monumentally large difference between being accessible thru a specific records request process and being the results with full name being publicly displayed and the internet.  Given the terrorist nature of PITA and other anti hunting groups we have every right to not have that information spread publicly.  No different than protecting who has a conceal carry permit..
Nevada posted the names for years without any problems. They even posted what town they live in.

Cool,I guess when people like Aryanna,Corey,Rebecca etc the list is very long receiving death threats is not a problem?

I'm saying that when antis know when a hunter kills an animal they send death threats. And in my opinion that is not a no problem.

the question mark at the end of my last is questioning your statement on that.

We need to turn this back in to pointing out how ineffective WDFW is at getting results posted.

Can I change my vote from last week? I would really like to win that lifetime of free membership to this site. It sounds like a very elite club to be a part of.

I don't understand why they need a witness anyway ,i thought the draw was done by a third party anyway .I mean what exactly are they witnessing how they change results for friends and family after the third party does a fair draw.

I believe the witness is just to prove that the results have been completed before they start the ice cream social. It has nothing to do with the results being legitimate. But the old regime of the fish and game is very worried about employees getting into the root beer floats before the results are prepared for release. For this reason they have a witness. The new director may choose a different direction, like letting the employees fill up on ice cream and other sweets before they release the results. Then the witness will become a thing of the past.

Informative write up from Idaho F&G on how their system works. I assume Washington is the same? Except our points are squared.

Hunters are a greedy bunch!  A witness is a great way to make certain people aren't being bought and paid for!!!

Hunters will do a lot of things just to get a "chance" at a good tag..

Remember people pay thousands of dollars to get a " chance " so Im certain people have been payed off before for much less than thousands...
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

The Whiners suck!!
