This is how the draw works.   Each year, The department selects one lucrative draw like the Entiat rifle or Late Desert that has a minimum of 1000 applicants.  Then, they monitor the website and each time someone checks their results they are eliminated from consideration until they  reach the desired number of tag holders.    Unfortunately,  They chose late Desert( 5 tags)  this year and two of the guys in the pool got Alzheimer's,  One died,  two forgot to pay the Internet bill, and one guys wife already fabricated a letter telling him he was, "not selected."  Because of this,  they have been unable to get down to five and thus, finalize the results.  My sources tell me that they that they have reached out to our former Deputy Chief regarding the problem and he became enraged saying, "How many times do I have to tell you, Nobody gives a *censored* about deer and elk!" ( He may also have been upset  that they interrupted his daily routine of marathon watching his glory days on Rugged Justice.)  After throwing  several objects and threatening to come out of retirement, he finally proposed a solution.  He told them to award the tags to the first five people  who mentioned shellfish in the deer or elk threads on the hunt forum and then to proceed with the remaining draws thereafter.  Unfortunately,It is apparent that nobody on the deer or elk threads gives a *censored* about shellfish so we are at an impass once again.  Next, Somebody working in the back room At the department them recommended that they reread the big foot thread in a search for enlightenment.  This process is currently ongoing, but since the bigfoot thread is longer than most congressional bills it could be several more days.

I love crab, clams, oysters and stuff.  They are the best.  Big game hunters are just shellfish!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Do I win?  Oh dang - this isn't a deer or elk thread, is it?  Guess I should have read the fine print better.

Breaking news!!!  My sources now tell me that they have abandoned their study of the Bigfoot thread as two of their high ranking officers resigned and left the room wearing tin foil hats.  They are now searching for answers in Hirshey's last three threads but progress is slow because it appears the vast majority of the posts are from dudes wishing they could go back in time and marry Hirschey.  One high ranking official even demanded that she be brought in for questioning, but a mole in the department leaked that info to his wife and so he quickly reversed course.  My sources also tell me that the draw is currently being hampered by litigation  from a "high profile" elk hunter who's legal team discovered  A loophole in the hunting regulations guaranteeing him one of the tags.

I have also received word that the draw is being postponed because The department just realized that there is Major error  in the hunting regulations.  It appears that the department included pictures and descriptions to help hunters differentiate between the 3 types of deer, but  inexplicably ommitted references to both the smell test and air radius  to Portland.  The department is now conducting an immediate rewrite of the pamphlet and is considering making it mandatory for hunters to download one of those apps that measures distance to their phones.  It also appears that no one has contacted the tribe...

New message when you login.

SPECIAL HUNTING PERMIT DRAW UPDATE: If you are a 2018 Special Hunting Permit Applicant, then this message is for you.

Greetings Special Hunting Permit Applicants,

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) wants to create a better experience for our hunters who applied for 2018 special hunting permits. This year, WDFW wants to provide you information on what to expect during the drawing process, and your ability to view all of your results when we have completed the process.

On June 20, 2018, at approximately 8:30 am, WDFW will initiate the special hunting permit draw process. This process will inactivate your ability to select and see the “Special Hunts” and “Points” links within your account. If you do login to your account at this time, these links will not be available for you to select.

The special hunting permit draw process includes a citizen witness who is a hunter and non-WDFW employee, a WDFW Wildlife Program representative, and staff from WDFW Licensing Division’s Business Technical Unit.  The Business Technical Unit staff will walk the citizen witness through the steps of validating the drawing, and the publish process. While there are 28 drawings that need to be conducted on this date, only a few are selected and validated with the witness during the meeting. Staff must finish the process of validating the remaining drawings before the results can be published.

During the publishing process, WDFW requests you wait a couple of hours after receiving your email confirmation(s) before checking the outcome of your applications. The publish process places a load on the system, potentially causing slowness and increasing the amount of time needed to finalize and publish the results. This is why WDFW is requesting your patience in viewing your results. We will begin to publish the results early on June 21, 2018.

Please do not call our office to find out the results, as this causes the same issue.

So my guess of June 21st was accurate!  (theoretically, assuming they stick with what they just posted)
