Looking for a ultrasonic case cleaner
« on: May 20, 2018, 04:56:42 PM »
Hi all,
I'm looking to add an ultrasonic case cleaner to my reloading stuff. Does anyone on here have any recommendations or have one they want to part with? All my stuff currently is RCBS but it really doesn't matter if it works.

I'm reloading mostly large rifle like .338 win mag and 7mm rem mag.

Google Franklin Arsenal Pin Tumbler and browse this
https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=539359

I have heard guys stop using ultrasonic because it got them too clean?

Like to hear from guys who have used both.

I use pins but not everytime - most accurate just wiping outside with 0000 steel wool and leaving carbon in neck.

I use one I bought off of eBay before ultrasonic cleaners became the rage.  I use it for my benchrest cases as I want the insides clean.  I don't want internal volume to change one iota or to change neck tension because of a few extra 1/10,000's.

Thanks, I guess a better question would be if I can either have 1 or the other should I get an ultrasonic or a tumble cleaner. I currently do not have a case cleaner I'm planning on buying one, just assumed ultrasonic was better.

I'm interested in an ultrasonic cleaner so am auditing this thread!

I have a Frankford Arsenal vibration tumbler, a lower priced model, and it is so NOISY that I am getting rid of it.  I put it on a foam pad and cover it with a big tub and more foam and it is still aloud.  It cleans OK, but needs a barn or shed away from the house and neighbors as a place to operate it.   :P

I've got one I'd part with, I prefer a tumbler.  I'll have to check tomorrow and see what brand/model it is though.

one thing to consider about ultrasonic cleaners is the cases need to be dried afterwards.  Cases from dry media tumblers can be reloaded as soon as the media is dumped from the cases.

I use my frankford arsenal stainless media tumbler each time I reload my brass. Just part of my reloading process now.
