Huckleberry 121
« on: May 22, 2018, 06:21:23 PM »
Looking forward to leaving work tomorrow afternoon and heading into unit 121 to fill this tag! Hopefully.

If anyone else is in the unit drop me a line. I will likely have to head home Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Recommend any places to camp or to avoid in the unit (as far as camping). Don't need a campground exactly, I am self sufficient.

Y'all got herds of mosquitoes 'roubd here. Holy hell.

Nothing this morning but a few turkeys. Getting fuel and going to check out monumental mountain area.

I can put you on bear about XX miles (not far) from Monumental if your interested PM me.  You would be walking in 1.5 to 3 miles but it is bear heavy and the pack out would be down hill, now with that said I did shoot a 6'2 just .6 miles in a few years back.

Lots of bears on the monumental area.  I was just up there this week.  I really like the area below the lookout both east and west.  good luck

Yea, so far it's the best area I have found that allows me to glass a large area. Hot as all get out now. Dropped into coleville to get tires rotated then will go back for evening glassing.

I have to admit, this area of WA is pretty nice. Maybe it's because everything is still green from spring? I always thought it was hot, dusty and brown. So far, I'm wrong!

Sorry guys I had the Monumental Mountain in the Selkirks in mind thinking you relocated and unfamiliar how the Spring Bear units work that you could not relocate over there like I thought you might have.

Sorry about that I was trying to help and had the wrong Monumental Mountain upon further discovery I found the Monumental in the Huckleberry range and had the wrong one in mind.

My bad.

I arrived in the huck about 12 noon today, no bears no sign. Saw one pile that was a few weeks old. I was in beary country all day, just haven’t found them. I’ll be around until Tuesday if I haven’t tagged out, Brown ford with a blackish quad

Me too!

Funny thing about luck.  When you work hard, stay positive, come prepared and put in some time...it has a way of finding you.

Congratulations on the first bear!
