Stand alone griddle vs camp stove/griddle on top?

So I keep seeing these blackstone and campchef griddles, the stand alone models, and thinking I need one.

But I already have a 3 burner campchef expedition, that I could buy a nicer griddle for, and save some money.

Are the stand alone ones a better option? Do they cook better?

It would be nice to have a 36" griddle, and I would use it a ton, but not sure if i should skimp out and buy the griddle top or just buy the entire unit!

Not sure which is better. I have the cast iron griddle that i put on top of my 3 burner Camp Chef. I think cast iron is eventually as easy to clean if it's cured properly. You have hot spots and spots that stay cooler, but I notice the blackstone do too.

Just bought the 17" Blackstone table top model in an attempt to scale down, really like it so far.

Having the griddle you can take off and set aside is a nice option to have IMO. Gives you a little more versatility depending on what you are cooking, like elk stew for instance.

I usually use my old white gas tri burner coleman stove for everything when camping, but ive found myself needing to be able to cook for 15+ people more and more often, the old coleman just cant keep up!

I have the griddle and the BBQ box for my camp chef.  I don't carry pots and pans as much any more.

The heat was fairly even across the surface, but it only has the one burner, one thing I like about 2 burners is one side for warming, one side for cooking.
But it was like using a small griddle at work.
I was looking at their 28" one, but figured I had it covered with the smaller one, cooked 8 burgers and a pound of bacon like a champ.

We just add a griddle on top of our stoves.  Way easier, cooks the same, more versatile, and best of less crap to haul around.
