Let's see those custom knives
« on: June 02, 2018, 08:16:10 AM »
JJB11B started a thread about the possibility of selling custom knives. I thought it would be nice to see what everyone's got out there. Here are my two, the hunter is from Wazukie and the elk-handled kitchen knife is a gift from my neighbor who owns Hurrle Knives. On Wazukie's blade, notice the elk tracks he etched. Very cool. On the camp kitchen knife, he left the hammer marks on the top of the blade.

Pastor Butch is a talented bladesmith. I wear that knife every time I go into the woods or fishing. I really like both of them a lot. I can't wait to use the kitchen knife in camp this year.

Mid 60's Ruana 29A, made out of a Studebaker leaf spring.

I've made a few for friends and relatives. I am making my first hidden tang now for my daughter for her first deer hunting trip this fall.

The Exo850 was the most time consuming. It started life as a 1.25" round bar of A2. I am a stock removal guy, not a forger, so I cut away everything that didn't belong. Instead of the tang being in line with the blade, I ran it as kind of a spine over the back of the handle and the pins run through the spine and the handle material. I will make 1 more, for my dad. It was a major pain.

Here's one my buddy in Spokane made me last year. He does great work. I can send a link to anyone who wants to contact him. He makes lots of different stuff.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.
