Help. Camera on fritz....
« on: June 02, 2018, 09:41:12 AM »
So I have a stealthcam that is about 6 years old. Only used about 3 of those years. It came from the kit they had at Costco at one time. I only have 2 and now this one (my better one) is not working. It clicks on, then the display goes off and the red low battery light comes on. Even with new batteries. It started at the tail end of last season. It got just a hair foggy one time I checked it and I pulled it right then.
There was a little corrosion on 1 terminal but I cleaned it and it's been like that even from before it stopped working.
Any ideas? Is there anything I can do?
I emailed their customer service out of curiosity but don't expect much there due to the age of the cam.
I just don't have the funds to get more right now and it's killing me.

I think I at least figured out what caused the issue. I started thinking back. I had noticed that the camera fogged up twice last season. Well, the first time it happened, when I pulled the cam it had been pointing at the ground. When I reviewed the pictures, it had been scewed with by a currious bear. I am guessing the bear broke it in a way that let moisture into the cam. That would explain it starting to fog up at that time. I wonder if there is something in it that is shorted out that I could possibly fix....

Check to see if there are internal batteries in it.  I had 2 cameras do about the same thing, and that's all it was. YouTube your make and model about internal batteries.  Mine were really easy to replace.

I would open it up and look for corrosion. clean with denatured alcohol for starters. :dunno:
I'm not sure.
