That is one fish I have never caught. Kinda to bad they are in Roosevelt. Probably all the way to Astoria by now.

Good work thinning the herd even if just a little. The guys I know that still guide the upper end of the system say they are beginning to get out of control up there. Might be time for a trip up there with some big bucktail spinners and swimbaits.

I've eaten quite a few Tiger Musky, if they are anything like that, they are tasty buggers.

For Musky we trolled big black spinner baits early in the morning and late in the evening. If it was mid day we would cruise and look for them and toss big bucktail spinners or swimbaits at them. Man it was fun.

I've caught countless pike on good ole daredevil spoons when I lived in Minnesota.  They aren't too picky; if it moves they try to eat it.

Excellent eating but YES, you have to YBone them. Easy though.

I am looking where to collect the bounty...there is a 50 fish ( $500 ) limit. I filleted it and lots of weird bones. The cats loved the scraps better than walleye. Hope to get more in the next few days.

Take the head to the Noisy Waters gas station at barneys junction.   There is a freezer outside there you place the head in  They'll send you a check  . Might also be one at the kettle falls boat ramp

Another way to do the small ones (under 24") is to scale them, fillet, turn skin side down and slice through the meat to but not through the skin at about 1/4" intervals.  Deep fry or sautee, the small y bones dissolve in the hot oil.  This was my favorite way to eat chain pickerel when I was a kid in NH, my favorite of the species available from shore to a kid on a bike.  The whole family preferred them to trout, bass and other panfish.  White, firm tasty flesh.

They aren't anything new.  I caught one when I was about 12 years old(1982) by the town of Gifford.  I was just fishing from shore.   Talk about a fun fish

We used to slay Northerns back east with weedless daredevils in the lilypads.

We used to catch these by the truck loads in WI.  If you know what you're doing, you can easily fillet them with no bones.  Getting rid of he Y-bones is the secret.  They are fabulous pickled.

I need to take a few lessons on how to fillet them. Pretty much butchered them. A few more last night.. ALL OF THEM HAD TROUT IN THEIR STOMACHES....

At a public meeting in Jackson a while back, a guy asked the Wyoming Game and Fish to put the district wildlife bio in charge of mosquitos, since he'd done such a good job on the deer and elk.

THOSE are some FAT slimers, I grew up in Minnesota and they would attack any lures threw at them.  I have had them jump in the boat just following your lure and as you picked up out of the water they followed.  All the old timers would pickle them, great fighters that's for sure
