After a really tough year and often not a lot to be excited about I was blessed with this rare opportunity. When you've had a life event like a brain tumor it really puts things into perspective, I now have all intentions of making sure I live life to the fullest and this hunt is no exception.  I had been applying for this tag for over 20 years and didn't believe I would ever get lucky enough to draw one. Even better was that I was able to share it with 2 of my favorite people, my son and my best friend Jeff. Through this my wife has been so supportive, allowing me to drive over the mountains to scout almost every weekend for 12 weeks and she had to listen non stop chatter about what I was seeing and how exited I was. After all the anticipation opening day finally arrived and the 3 of us set out to bring in the final chapter of my long awaited hunt. We had an amazing day, the mountains were absolutely breathtaking and there were sheep in almost every canyon we explored. We eventually found a group of 11 mature rams and decided to make a stalk. We were able to get with in 216 yds, after sizing them up and picking out my prize I squeezed the trigger on my trusty 270. I was almost overwhelmed when it all came together, it seemed like a truly impossible dream. I could have never accomplished this without Josh and Jeff helping me out and putting up with my slow clumbsy pace. 11 months ago I was learning how to walk again and was truly wondering if I would ever be able to get back in the mountains, let alone go on a sheep hunt. Thanks Josh, Jeff and Ginger for helping me realize this dream.

No, I haven't been able to find him for several weeks now, he was considerably bigger than this guy.  My goal was to shoot a mature ram, it didn't have to be the biggest on the mountain just a good representation.  With my recovery still underway I wanted to get it done with my son and best friend with me.

You totally met your goal.  Congrats on a great hunt with friends and family.  It is always nice to see a story about the hunt and experience where maximum inches isn't the focus.  I would be so happy with that ram and the experience you had.  Thanks for sharing and for showing us all what it really is all about.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

That’s a Beauty of a ram 👍 A true trophy of a lifetime that most people will never get to experience with family and friends like you were able to do.
