It was trying to snow last Sunday but it’s looking warm this time around. looks like the rain forecast was downgraded for this weekend which should be good for the roads.

5 years ago opening day I shot a 205 inch buck in there  . One of the biggest I got . I helped people hunt almost every year after that. The last 2 years I seen a decrease  in big bucks due to the fire and the general season after the fire. there was a day when there was 170 on every corner. Now u have to hunt a lot harder. U will do good !!! Pray for snow and belivebn ur glass

What about predators they have more effect I believe than the fire

Pray for snow, but it's not a requirement.  There are good respectable bucks floating around.  Glass, glass and more glass.  Then hike and shoot!

I don’t believe predators killed off the big bucks lol I think it was the guys in the orange vest lol. But if u go back 2 years ago maybe 3 now there was over 5 200’inch bucks and a hand full of 190’inch bucks shot-and countless 170s shot out of the eniat unit its self. When the fire hit it pushed a lot of deer down and the  deer actually stayed down low because of a food source. General season rolled around and wiped a lot of deer out big time.  I know bigs bucks get shot during general season but not that many in the same unit .So if u could imagine that there was a lot more legal bucks readily available for every jo shmo with a tag. That hurt the heard bad. I talked to seven game warden that year and they confirmed that there was a big harvest rate that year. So now we are living the after affects of that one awesome general season lol. But don’t get me wrong some one needs to kill those cougars too

I have hunted this country for 45 plus years. I have been lucky enough to draw this tag twice 06 and last year. Herds  have been hurt by fire and hard winters.  You should find a decent buck but the 180'class bucks are hard to find. Potatoe creek had fire again and I believe it was closed during the regular season. I went over before the opener and seen more bear than deer.  Good luck
