Anybody have a Kimber Hunter in 6.5 Creed?
« on: June 22, 2018, 09:12:07 PM »
Most detachable magazines I have used (on rifles) allow you to push the cartridge vertically down into the magazine. This one does not have enough clearance to do that. Therefore, I have to start them at forward and slide them rearward into the magazine if this makes sense. Is this how they are designed or did I get the wrong clip? The instructions do show a vertical install.

Secondly, I thought these came with a pre-shot target for evidence of MOA? Mine did not, not that it matters other than between these two observations I'm wondering if I got a return or if something is off with my purchase. Thanks for any thoughts.

Don't have a kimber, but your description of loading sounds correct. Have you tried searching youtube for an unboxing video? Try that and ask Kimber if you really want confirmation.

Good call, should have considered that BEFORE posting. Looks like all is as designed. Too used to my model 88 apparently?

I have the hunter in .243. Love that little rifle! Super comfortable, super light, well balanced and very accurate with a variety of ammo. However, the clip and clip insertion is my least favorite thing about that rifle. Yes you have to slide the shells in like you described but the thing I dislike worse is when I put the clip in I have to tilt the rear of the clip in first then push the front in to get it to click into place. It’s really plasticky stiff too which may or may not get better over time. When I first took it out to shoot I had a hard time jacking in a shell, but that issue has aleaviated itself after 10-15 rounds. I don’t remember getting a proof of accuracy target either, which doesn’t matter now because I know what it’s capable of. Have fun with your 6.5, if it’s anything like my .243 you’ll love it.
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it
