Fishing in Idaho

Where to go and for what?  I never really looked at or researched Idaho fishing much because of the out of state license fees, but now that I am moved over here I want to start exploring the state's fishing.  I still have a tad over 5 months before I can purchase a license at the Resident fee, but might as well bite the bullet and start learning now.  So any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

You might check on purchasing a CDA Tribal Fishing License in Plummer. From my understanding they include a map with ponds that contain some very large trout. Even the non-resident/non-tribal member license is not that expensive.

Outside the REZ, monster pike in Lake CDA and Hayden Lake. King salmon and kokanee in Lake CDA. Steelhead and salmon in the Clearwater River by Lewiston as well as the Salmon River near Riggins and Salmon, ID.

And wear out a few flies at stream mouths on cuts in the same reservoir.  You are very close to the very best, some minutes from your door, enjoy

The obvious stream fly fishing. A friend took me to Hayden this spring and slayed crappie and bluegill with a few Smallies
Need a boat though and it is a Big lake with probably a big learning curve.

Priest Lake macks.. Easy to catch....200ft. deep..2 ounce sliding egg sinker... two ft leader... and a squaw fish for bait

Co worker and I were catching some dandy bull trout and cutthroat this weekend. There's some darn good fly and spinner fishing in the rivers in the north half of Idaho, especially up near you. 

Bass fishing is heating up along the Clearwater.

May have changed since the last time I fished Kokanee at Dworshack, it had a 26 fish limit. We got three limits in a few hours.

CDA is a great lake with lots of options.  Landlocked Chinook, kokanee, pike, and bass are all great options.  Hayden has pretty good fishing for Pike, bass, and kokanee also.  I'm a big fan of CDA though and so far this year haven't fished another body of water in Wa or Idaho other than CDA.

You can’t fish it all. But I recommend trying! Ha ha everything already mentioned plus all the smaller lakes will keep you plenty busy. The ponds mentioned are right in Worley if that interests you. Then you need to hit the rivers you will run out of time or money before you run out of good options enjoy!
