Minimum a week. Try not to go more than a month.

I’ve had batteries randomly die, a bear eat or move the camera, cam not set up correctly, there always seems to be something. If I only wait a week or two to check I’ll be out a whole lot less than if I waited a long time.

Also depends on how far away from home the camera is too.

Like to try and wait a month, and hope everything is all well.
But a week is always acceptable if you live close to your game cam location.
Sd cards fill up quick when deer like your spots.
Bears like to damage,or move your cam for ya
If I get any two leg human pics I tend to move it.
Battery die.
Etc .
Etc.
So never hurts to check whenever you want.

Elk are always Messing with my cams. I get my best pics with my cams set up just feet off the ground. Great for predictor pics. Not far from home, so I try to check once a week.

All depends on distance and cam locations/productivity. I just checked a cam on Sunday that I last checked early sept of last year. 3-6 months is pretty normal for me. The more frequent you go, the more you disturb the area and leave scent. This big critters aren’t dumb. They get wary when a lot of activity is going on.

How much does your camera plan cost per month with that many photos coming in?

My cams are in areas not a lot, if any people go, so max is once a month. Don't like to over saturate the area with scent if not necessary.

I like to let mine sit for 2-4 weeks, but it doesn't hurt to check them out quickly after you first put them out. I put one out three weeks ago and checked it last weekend and ended only getting two and a half days of pictures because I had it on the wrong setting and the elk filled my sd card with 3300 pictures in that short of time so I ended up not getting nothing for the last two weeks.
