Marlin
« on: March 15, 2009, 05:28:41 PM »
Here is a couple of pictures from my recent trip to Cabo. I caught 3 striped Marlin and each of the other 2 on the boat got into 1 as well. I also hooked a 12 foot Hammerhead that we failed to get a picture of...

ok, i appears that i don;t know how to add pictures, any ideas?

Go to "additional options" and then "browse"

Man i hate you!  I have been 3 times now and still have not hooked into one.  I leave next month for 10 days at Ixtapa!  I hope to get one then.  Nice fish man!

Ixtapa has a great sailfish fishery.  A good place to go w/ a flyrod... there are a handful of guys down there who know the game.  If memory serves me, the other Billfish are not as plentiful. I believe "prime" time is Jan/Feb.  There can be some really good inshore stuff too....

Would encourage guys to release the Billfish (not baggin on ya newguy).  As table fare they are mediocre at best.  The dorado and mackeral are usually plentiful and many reseraunts will cook em for ya.  Try Le Pearla in Zihuat... they used to give you a great deal on fish dinners.

I would have to agree with releasing them. I was actually going to get it mounted but no one showed up..... They are such magnificent animals, let someone else get a shot at them

As far as table fare goes.... It was actually wonderful. I know it doesn;t measure up to fresh mahi or yellowtail but fresh it is sure good. They do have a ton of meat on them which is not cost efficient to bring back home. I donated the remainder of the meat to a local orphanage but still felt guilty for keeping it
