Lincoln Peak Goat Tag
« on: July 11, 2018, 03:53:57 PM »
Hey Fellas.  I can’t believe my eyes when I saw I had drawn my 3 choice Goat tag on Lincoln Peak! :). Now I need as much help as possible trying to get one of these amazing specimens.  Anyone out there have any help for me up on Lincoln Peak.  Thanks

I like the avatar.

PM Shanevg he will probably help point you in the right direction.

Having never drawn an oil but going on one in that country I would.

Look at a lot of goats to get an idea of size, sex, etc.
Get in the unit early because once you see the country you’ll be excited to get back there no matter how beat you are when you get home.
Get in shape because it will make the hunt more enjoyable.
Get a group of buddies or family to go with you, share the experience and document it with video and photos and keep a journal.
Get trekking poles and chains for your boots your going to need them.

Good luck and post up your adventure on here.

Thanks for all the help Shanevg came in with some solid advice and starting points.  Thanks Shane!  I drew my third choice w/ 14pts.  So no I’d didn’t have 3.😀. I’m headed up this weekend to get in goat shape.  Super serious about this tag.   Thanks for all the help everyone!

Good Luck! I've spent a lot of time hiking around Baker, but that side is the least accessible area, I've only been on the edges of it. Should be fun!

He’s in good shape and will do the tag the justice it deserves. Can’t think of a more deserving guy..... beside maybe what I’ve heard about shanevg... he sounds to of earned a couple. Congrats buddy!! Super excited to see what you turn up and I know this will be the hunt of a lifetime for you!!! Savor it. You got a long season ahead. .

Great pics Shane.

Good luck with the tag, as mentioned it requires stories and pics as you go through the season.

Looks familiar Shane.  Might of been there before.    Looks like Gona be better access than last year in September.

I haven’t been checking the snow level up there but in 2016 when my dad had a tag it was pretty mild until the second week of October.

Hopefully next week visibility up there will open up.
