This one has been a challenge to a few buddies. It is not a Washington bear for what it’s worth. I thought for sure it was a grizzly bear but some were not so sure.

It's an interesting one.  I've gotten mixed answers from a few buddies who are experienced bear hunters. Some say black and some say griz. This bear was in Wyoming so it could be either. Our resident WA outfitter said it was a grizzly.

That's way to pronounced of a hump to be anything but a Griz.

I'm no bear expert and would never try to act like one, but I've never really thought the hump was a sure fire way to ID one from the other. Too many times people see a shoulder hump and automatically jump to the grizzly thing. Black bears have shoulder blades too, and in the right stance, those shoulder blades will protrude. In this case I think you're right because it's pretty much standing flat.
