string releases
« on: July 14, 2018, 12:08:00 PM »
Maybe a dumb question and i have been bow hunting for years now but i just went through the regs. with my wife to get her up on all archery and am a little confused.

QUOTE FROM REGS:
IT IS UNLAWFUL TO USE ANY DEVICE SECURED TO OR SUPPORTED BY THE BOW FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING THE BOW AT FULL DRAW OR IN A FIRING POSITION.
Does this mean all of us that use string releases are doing so illegally?

Any device yep
secured yep
supported yep
maintains bow at full draw yep
in a firing position  yep.

Am i missing an exception to this somewhere or is it illegal in WA. to use them?

Your arm is maintaining the bow at full draw.  The device is a release.

No,  some while back there was an invention that hooked to the riser and kept the string at full draw for you until you pulled the trigger.  It was an arm, I'll see if I can find a pic...

Thanks,I never knew these items even existed.Great for disabled hunters though. Looks like they are supported by quite a few groups and have sold a ton of them.
