Snail mail couldn't have worked any better
« on: July 16, 2018, 11:49:31 PM »
I had a very interesting start to my Monday.  Working at ecko lake I noticed a dark figure laying down in the shade near the lake. Grass is pretty tall and hard to judge size, I was about 80 yds away trying to figure out what it was exactly. First thought was a coyote. Then I noticed the ears. I sent out a hear kitty kitty but it never moved it's head. It was super focused on straight ahead. Perfectly perpendicular to me. Before I knew what happened bobcat bolted and a doe jumped and bounded straight at me, she saw me and we both heard a little whimper. She stopped and turned back towards the lake and she bounded off and on to the neighbors property.  I know of 7 fawns in the area, hopefully it's not 6 now.

So I'm all jacked up on that and my dad calls me after just getting home from his property and is looking through his mail. We're talking business and all that when he pauses and says " did u know I got drawn for the chiwawa quality buck tag?"  What??? No fing way!!!. I put my dads apps in. Why i did not check his results i dont know. 🙄He doesnt want to hunt any other unit but the chiwawa. My dad and I have put in for 15 yrs together and the last 3 yrs I have wanted to try my luck with a few other units.

So here we are. Im pretty sure I am more excited than my dad is. I could hardly work the rest of the day.  My dad is 70, this is probably the only time he will get this tag. This is super important for me and more importantly for my 7 yr old son. We know a small portion of the unit very well but I would be super greatfull for any info provided. Thanks for reading this novel!!!

Fantastic luck for dad!  I read an article last month that stated most hunters quit chasing deer by age 70.  Hope your dad scores a monster buck!
