Favorite Summer Long Sleeve

So the bugs are starting to get BAD while out scouting. I was curious what everyone likes for long sleeve summer shirts?

Any long sleeve will do. breathable is better.
Spray it before hand with Saywer Permethrin. Also spray your pants and hat. That will do a good job keeping the bugs at bay.

Love Saywers! yea I might get something that just an athletic long sleeve with high amounts of wicking. That said I wouldn't mind a new base layer from Kuiu or first lite  :chuckle:

+1 on the permethrin.

FYI - it is VERY toxic to cats in liquid form -- make sure you keep them away from the area while you're spraying and don't let them contact the clothing until it dries.

I also wear a lightweight synthetic of some kind. I have Under Armor, Kuiu, First Lite, Columbia, etc... all work but none stop bugs on their own. Permethrin works awesome and has become my go-to. I always carry some bug spray for my hat/face/hands/legs, as I can't stand wearing pants when it's hot.

Just went to Sierra Trading Post and got a synthetic long sleeve shirt for $9 that should do the trick. Agreed with the Permethrin, stuff just works.

I wear a long sleeve UA shirt quite a bit in the summer.  Not sure exactly which model but they are 1/4 zip.

I do love 1/4 zip, always nice when it gets really hot.

We always go to Goodwill and buy the lightest shirts. Don't know the blend, I go by feel, but they usually go under suits I think. ( I don't own a suit ) Any sweat and they cool you with evaporation and allow air flow. I usually go with short sleeves but have a few long as well. As light in color of course. Usually under a couple of bucks. Hose them with the Permithrin and good to go. I wear them on the boat in the summer as well. A bonus is,  If you happen to encounter a bevy of beauties or a forest worker that has lost her way. Tuck it in and look sharp.

I wear a lot of Columbia pfg clothes in upf 50. I like light weight hoodies they have. Very comfortable & helps me keep cooler.

Ex Officio ExoDri Tees.  Sadly, they stopped making them.  Breathability and durability were legendary.

UA and REI are my substitutes, but don't come close.  Now REI cut its nose off in the latest 2A attacks.

So UA is it.

Threadborne sir is the one.

It's wierd, but some feel sticky, depending on color.

I do love wool and synthetic base layers(smart wool, kuiu, UA), but the problem is the mosquitoes can eat right through them. Something like a loose fitting exoffico style shirt is the best way to go. And the collar helps as well. Deet!!!

You're not wrong.  Permethrin or picaridin work pretty well to keep bugs away from your baselayers, though.

I just ordered a Columbia Omnishade long sleeve, inspired by this thread; i'll let y'all know how it performs.

I use Columbia Omni-shade as well.
Worked fantastic on our Vietnam/Cambodia trip last January.

Tackle Warehouse makes a long sleeve sun shirt that is pretty affordable.  It is a UPF 50 I believe.  They have frequent sales as well.

used this during turkey season this year in hot weather.  worn it on a few sunny day hikes.  excellent sun protection and keep cool even with the hood up.  dries fast.
