I was chatting with a friend of mine who informed me that there are pronghorn in our state. I thought he was pulling my chain but I looked into it and I guess it’s true. Now my question to you is this: has anyone seen these animals? And if so, has anyone been lucky enough to take a picture?

I’ve seen them multiple times. From Kennewick, to Goldendale, up to Sunnyside.

They are out there. I even have pictures, just can’t seem to find them.

Yep, there is one I see every day - right above my fireplace.

Glad to see they may be talking hold, very cool animals indeed.

Unlikely they'd do much. Lots of other crops they'd prefer, especially with better line of sight for evasive maneuvers.

Just out of curiosity, are they native here? In other words is this a reintroduction to a place they were extirpated or just a successful transplant?

I'm thrilled they're here in either case, just wondering.

So was down there today and saw some but were really really far out. No pics and could just tell what they were and no count.

So this would be a prime opportunity for wdfw to put out one permit. There are probably enough now to sustain one buck being killed. AND ALL funds that come from the application are earmarked to go to importing more in AND nothing else. Partner with other groups to pool funds - both tribal and private t bring in as many as possible from different areas to have a good gene pool. Do that for 10 years and we would have a stable and huntable population. There is so much good habitat here for them that they would do well and offer another hunting opportunity. I think a ton of people would apply just knowing what the funds are going for. I know i would.

There inlies the problem. And once the tag is notched the attitude of folks change and the species loses the stigma of being protected. Poaching goes up tenfold. Right now folks, tribal members etc are all pretty protective of them. Once the pies starts being divided, it will be gone.

As much as I would love to get an opportunity to try for one Bone is right. Besides, I don’t trust that all funds gained from a raffle would go back toward the species. Hopefully the wolves don’t eventually get to them but it seems inevitable I’m afraid.

Seen them multiple times between Brewster and Okanogan. Seen two right in the area of a known wolf den....

I finally saw one yesterday! It crossed the road and then stood for while as I looked at it through Binos at about 100 yards, it looked healthy and had a nice rack. This was south west of Tri cities

Saw a collared doe with a yearling fawn a couple weeks ago between on the top of the Rock Island Grade. Too far for anything but a fuzzy pic, akin to a bigfoot photo

But pretty cool to see my first WA Pronghorn
