What are water levels like?

Current water level is 1285.

Beaches are starting to show.  Dropped 3-4 feet last week.  Will continue a slow drop through summer. Still high water relative to the reservoir.

man, two weeks ago the water was HIGH!!!!  not a speck of beach to be seen!  might make a trip back out there if the water is dropping. the kids like to play on the sand.

Did you check out the fire across from Seven Bays when you were there two weeks ago?  It was raging good.  Early 20's guy started it with fireworks then apparently tried to get out of dodge and was caught at the hawk creek boat launch.  Beaches are out your kids will be on the sand.

If you are talking Cayuse Cove up the Spokane arm know your hazards, I spend time there and watch more than a few boats each year take out lower units and props by not knowing the water.  There are three buoy marked hazards just before the "narrows" down from Cayuse, then Cayuse,  and then one more up towards the damn. 
The water level is still high enough to be your friend however. 
With Porcupine Bay road closed and campground inaccessible by vehicle due to landslide I have been thinking that bay would be nice now that there are many less folks there with the closure.

Well typically we launch at Keller and hang a right. I know that bay can be very shallow. Sounds like it will be a scorcher  Was thinking of heading north instead of staying around the dam end, was thinking past the mouth of the Sanpoil. Good small mouth fishing around the bay, but was looking to venture out and try some new areas.

Keller is my favorite on the lake, good choice.   I actually have a boat slip at the Keller Marina.  We hang a right too and can be found just past Hanson Harbor just past the floating outhouse.  Between the floating outhouse and Jones Bay.  If you see a 26 foot regal and guys/gals playing frisbee between two poles with cans of beer on top feel free to swing on in.  Will be there this Sunday for sure.

Well looks like we’re gonna head that way this weekend. Sounds like jigging for walleye and bass is a good bet...? How about trolling a worm harness? What depth should a guy start out? Never been that way in the summer only in the late winter for trout fishing from the bank. Look like we’re launching out of spring Canyon. Any info is appreciated! Thanks

For trout troll some orange or green double whammy's behind a string of flashers tipped with a worm about 1.8 MPH. Perch colored flies work good too. You should not have any trouble finding trout with all the net pen fish in there. Not much size yet but still fun for the kids. Bleed them and get them on ice asap or they will be mushy. I don't fish for walleye much so no help there. Where are you putting in?

Heading to Roosevelt tomorrow. Anybody have any tips on trout or walleye from a boat? I would like to get my boys on some fish. Any tips appreciated.

What part of the lake are you fishing? It's been all small net pen fish mostly this summer and slower than winter time fishing for sure. We generally troll a fly in pink, orange, or green tipped with power corn with 12-16" of leader going to a silver or gold flasher. Works year round pretty well over there.

Had some friends fish last weekend and did ok on rainbows. They said the eagles are getting good at catching the redbands that are tossed back. Also said the yellow jackets are unbelievable. Everyone was stung multiple times, including the dog. Man, It did not sound fun with those evil little things constantly harassing...

Heard the same thing on the bees. My dad said traps are sold out everywhere over there and to be on stand by for picking some up around here.

Had some friends fish last weekend and did ok on rainbows. They said the eagles are getting good at catching the redbands that are tossed back. Also said the yellow jackets are unbelievable. Everyone was stung multiple times, including the dog. Man, It did not sound fun with those evil little things constantly harassing...

Bees are insane this year, we had thousands in our yard, bee traps were all sold out locally, I ordered 6 traps online, we have to empty them every other day! Been many years since I've seen the bees this bad, we are fretting the bear opener and trying to gut and piece out a bear on the mountain!

Says they have 143 as of today. When I dump the yellow jackets I refill the lower unit with Honey ham and its reloaded. The bee guy where I used to work that's all he used in the traps said it worked better than the attractant.
 
There is this guy as well. Thinking of building this and sitting it in the pasture and walk away. A cheep plastic tote and a soda bottle and some duct tape.

I ordered a bunch of "make your own" off of Amazon.  Basically can use any 2 litre plastic bottle and  punch the funnel trap into them.  Little apple juice, drop of dishwasher soap and teaspoon of wet cat food brings them in like crazy.  Much cheaper than the ready made traps and work just fine.  I usually put out about a dozen or more when the yellow jackets are bad.

@baldopepper  You can find them on Amazon under Wasp Trap funnels.  Little more expensive than they used to be but still cheaper than the ready to use traps.  I got the bait formula on line some years ago, but basically it's just a mix of apple juice, drop or two of dishwasher soap and about a spoonful of any wet cat food. Exact ratio doesn't seem to be too critical.  They work very well just be carful when you make your cuts in the 2 litre bottle to make sure the funnels fit in securely.  We've found that if we start putting the traps out very early in the year we catch much larger yellow jackets and suspect it might help keep the numbers down later in the year. Ive been putting them out around the house for a couple of months now and frankly we're not having any real problems at all. (I put out about a dozen bottles but lately have been finding only a few in each trap)
