Baker Lake
« on: July 25, 2018, 07:18:35 AM »
Anyone having any luck on Baker Lake?  I see the counts are at 6,836 for the lake.  Another 13,805 for the trap.  I believe they keep close to 2k fish at the hatchery for stock.  Not sure why they haven't moved another 5k into the lake yet?
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Co-worker has taken 4 so far in 3 trips IIRC, with 2 guys fishing.
I'll be headed up this weekend hopefully.

Baker is a bureaucratic mess. Indians get the most of the fish from the trap.  Counts are inflated of what actually goes in the lake. This coming from the guy who transports the fish from the trap.

Not really the rod.  But using lead weight like 4oz, 6oz or something like that in front of your dodger a ways instead of using a downrigger.

Anyone been fishing the last few days?  Was up there last week and was really slow, not just for us for everyone.  Looking at making one more trip hoping the fishing has picked up.

The next opportunity for delicious sockeye is at hand and absolutely dwarfs the puny Baker run. Larger fish as well. If you love eating sockeye......

I went to baker lake a couple years ago and when I got back to the ramp the truck was there dumping a load of fish and there was a guy standing on the log boom netting fish as they came out of the tank.... I asked the driver what was going on and he said “no comment”.
