bear hunting on the Long Beach peninsula question
« on: July 02, 2018, 04:44:21 PM »
I understand there is a pretty good bear population in GMU 684 Long Beach peninsula. Anyone with experience they would like to share? Please feel free to PM

Wife wants a fall bear so we might give this area a try

Better chance on the island (699), although archery only....
Not much public land in 684, although there is some, most bears are behind someone's house, or in the park.

That was my guess too but thought I would toss it out there. We are archery hunters and I know several people that have hunted and a few people that still hunt Long Island. Really dont want to mess with the tide and boat issues. Maybe Bear River or Williams Creek would be better. We have hunted lots of the Willapa Hill area and killed lots of elk several deer, seen a few bears but not lots of sign, I know they must be there.

Use the county GIS site to find out who the bigger landowners are.  There are several who will allow access if you approach them correctly.  DO NOT hunt someones property were the bears are getting into their garbage can.

I got my first bear two seasons ago in Williams creek while elk hunting. Ran out in off the hill and came up to 20 yards and I shot it with my bow. I've also seen plenty in bear river. Basically what I'm saying, there's tons of bear down there  :chuckle:
