I don’t have much experience shooting rifles in rain, how much affect can rain have on velocity and accuracy?

Studies have been done.. and the effect is little to none. I wouldn't worry about it.  :twocents:

Im not exactly sure but ive heard that it doesnt make much of a difference.

If it made a huge difference I dont think anyone west of the cascades would ever hit a deer with a rifle  :chuckle:

I met a guy shooting the other day that said that one of the guns was shooting off a bit because it was sunnier that day than the day the gun was sighted in. :chuckle: It as a .308win at 60 yards hitting 6 inches off the bullseye.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

The key is dont slow down, see the deer, get the gun, dont spill yer beer. stick the gun out the window and start shooting towards the deeer.
go up the road, drink another one and smoke some grass, go back look for the deer, dont get out of the truck, if ya cant see it from the road ya musta missed. head for the mini mart for more beer. oh yeah reload. roll yer window up if it is raining.

I have thought about this for a long time.
I believe light bullets like 17HMR can get pushed around alot from a raindrop.

Nope, so long as the round remains supersonic, it's rumored the rain doesn't even touch the round due to the speed  it's traveling at creating a funnel that pushes the rain around the edges.  There's an image on Wikepedia I always found interesting when I looked into this awhile back...

This is a picture of a .308 at Mach 2.4
