Today's adventure.
« on: July 29, 2018, 04:31:58 PM »
Oh My God, it has been one Hell of a day.....
Dusty and I decided to head to Useless Bay to some crabbing and salmon fishing. To start the day, we left 45 min later then was planned, stopped at 3 different places to grab a quick bite to eat from a hot case (AM/PM, convince store) and none had any hot food 😠

Dropped pots and started fishing, Dusty caught shaker on the first pass, I caught a nice 26" Chinook  👍 on our second pass, and we both caught flounder.

Decided to check our crab pots, pulled the first pot, two small crab and a shark stuck in the cage 😲 next pot, no keeper, moved them to different area, picked up the other two pots we had in deeper water and neither one had a keeper crab in them, so off we go to different, deeper water. Dropped the next pot in 120 feet of water, has 200 feet of line on it. We made sure it was on bottom, but something kept me looking back at the buoy as we pulled away, sure as *censored*, the buoy was going under..... slowly watched the buoy sink in the deep...... so we moved back in to the bay and dropped the last pot and started fishing again.

As we troll pass our crab pot 20 ,in later I look at it and something is off, not right..... HOLY *censored*, THE DOWRIGGER BALLS ARE CAUGHT ON THE CRAB POT LINE.... spent the next 45 minutes or so dislodging/untangling downrigger line, weight, crab pot line, fishing gear, and boat motor with no damage to anything.....

We start our troll again and Dusty jumps up, oh yeah baby, got a fish..... He grabs his pole and starts reeling his fish, so I stoped the boat, moved my pole out of the way so as to not tangle that lines and grab the net..... as I go to net the fish it decided to jump out the water, it was feisty..... Dusty got it back to the boat and it headed right for the boat, l learn over with the net and net the fish, as soon as I do I loose my balance slowly start to fall overboard 😲 I try and hand Dusty the net but he could not grab it before I take a dive in the drink..... Dusty grabs the net, I grab the side of the boat and see the fish is under the boat. I yelled, give me the net.... and lowers it in the water. I gently grab the fish (still hooked) and put it in the net and told him to get it out of here....... Dusty picks up the fish, as I stare up at him from the water laughing my ass off......
I swam to the back of the boat, Dusty helped me up out of the water, I stand there soaking wet, drenched...... I sat on the back at the boat and we both look at each other and said, it's time to call it a day..... WE ARE DONE......

We packed up our gear, grabbed our crab pot, with 0 keeper crabs in them and head back to the launch, but before we go, we were going to take one last look for the lost crab pot. Headed over there and what do you, we spot the buoy, found the lost pot 👍

Didn't save the pic I took of the fish I sent swimming for.......  :bash:

Nice save on the fish!

Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

Dusty asked me if it was bad that he went to save the net and not me? I told him, Hell no, I would have done the same thig......  I was happy to not get harpooned while in the water...

Wish there was a Go Pro set up to record the whole ordeal, it was a Kodak moment  :yike:

Considering I worked today, that sounds like a great time!
Right wing shooter, I aim for the left!!!

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

That's funny right there.
It always easy talking about our home runs but foul balls and strike outs can be a lot funnier.

Havent gone swimming trying to net a fish yet, but did have a very expensive rod and reel yanked out of my hand by a big one that I almost jumped in for.  Sounds like you had a true adventure :chuckle:

Thanks for sharing.  You'll tell that one for the rest of your life.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
