Drying brass

For those out there that use ultrasonic cleaners do you have a good way of drying brass?

I stick them on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Bake. At around 150-175* for 30 minutes or so.

This time of year just put them outside or spread out on the bench overnight.

I just deprimed and cleaned 300 rounds of 7mm rem mag brass. I'm going to get some dry and hopefully will reload some tomorrow.

I'll spread them out on paper towels for the night, and tomorrow and if they are not dry after work throw them in the oven tomorrow.

Unrelated but still in the topic of case cleaning. When tumbled or vibrated in a dry media that might have a little dust, like crushed Walnut, do you worry about getting the dust out of the case? Of course tapping the case so the media/chunks come out but what about the fine dust that lines the case wall?

I've not had an issue. I try and repeat my steps exactly.  That way if i do have dust i get dust on them all! Consistent practices that result in accurate ammo can't be argued. If it works your way stick to it and repeat each time. I likely overclean my cases.

Turn oven to minimum . Shut off when reaches 145.  Put shells on towel on cookiesheet.  Put in oven.   In 30 mins bone dry.

Put in an old dryer sheet.  Seems to soak up all that dust and keeps the media cleaner.

I put the wet brass into a plastic ammo tray, the 50 round kind that pistol ammo comes in.  Primer pockets up.  The brass will dry on its own or I’ll put the tray on an air register for a while.

I just have aluminium pan from dollar store ,in oven lowest setting 1 hour done.

As for the dust thing, add dryer sheets to your media but also if you are getting that much residue on your brass you need to change out your media.

I did the dryer sheet on the last batch, last year, but forgot to throw it in this past weekend on the latest batch.  It's not a ton of dust. When I pull them out I tape two cases together upsidedown to knock out the media and wipe the outside with a paper towel; after 100 rounds the paper towel is a little discolored with the dust wipe off.  Looking inside you can tell the case walls have a little dust and are the color of the media dust not shiney brass looking like the outside. I plan to just run a qtip with a little case lube on the inside of the neck, to clean the dust and outside to lube the neck for neck sizing only and call it good.

Walnut media makes a lot of dust (especially that red Lyman stuff), but corncob doesn't. If you cut up strips of paper towel and leave them in the walnut media it helps a lot, but you'll always have some dust.

For drying, I just dump the brass on a pizza pan in the oven at 200* for a while.

Throw in a capful of Nu-Finish car polish, let it tumble for a few minutes to mix it in to the media and then throw your brass in. Takes care of dust and helps get brass shine.

Can't help with drying, I dry tumble for 2-4 hours and I'm ready to reload.
