HomeBrew Problem
« on: March 16, 2009, 06:48:06 PM »
I went to check my camera a few days ago and it had 881 pictures on it..all taken in 5 1/2 hours on one day.  I have had a bad cold so I haven't been out to check it for awhile...anyway I checked it again and it had taken 2 pictures at 11:36PM and then 669 pictures in 1 hour and 19 minutes the next morning....This is tooooo much of a good thing..lol   It takes quite awhile to sort thru' that many pictures to save 10 or so.

A dip switch adjustment is in order!!!
But this is why we built them..right??

Did you have it in the rapid fire mode? I tried that mode this time just to see how it works. Sounds like yours worked. Was your Camera Batt dead?

I hope you feel better, this cold has been kicking my butt hard the last couple of days.  What setting are you trying next?  Eventually when the snow is gone, I'll be setting a camera over in Idaho and will only be able to check it once a week.  I'm sure I'll have to play with the settings a bit.

I have had the camera set on rapid fire..(ie) switch # 6 on, all others off.  I will change to 15 or 30 second delay, depending on the situation.  There have been times with no pictures in a week, times when the battery was dead with 300 or so pictures, and times with the 2 gig card full..700 to 880 pictures..and the battery still with a little left.
I have one on a trail and it works fine on rapid fire.

It is difficult to go through 800 pics to save 5-10 pics, but if you go to delays you will risk losing those 5 -10 pics that are worth saving.  If you are looking for quality photos, then you have the burden of sorting.  If you are just looking to see what kind of game is around the area, you shouldn't have the sorting problems, because you can scan through them relatively quickly.  I hate to say it - you might just have too much of a good thing.

I started this thread almost as a joke after the orginal homebrew builder and I were laughing about the fact that the camera had taken so many pictures in such a short time..and I see that I made an error in my math..not that it matters much, but it was 769 pictures in 79 minutes.  I don't really mind sorting them..it just takes a little time.
Hope you other guys are having good luck.

So you never did tell us if they were legit pictures. Were there any animals in the pictures?
