I got it bad. I've been scouting hardcore these past few weeks and while i've neither seen nor heard anything, I'm pumped up as if I've seen millions. I'm going again this week to check a very specific 7,000 acre plot... wish me luck. I still have one more forest in my deck of cards that I haven't even checked yet in case things don't pan out.

I'm pumped but at the same time a little disappointed this year.

We'll be in warmer climates on vacation right up through the youth season and so my youngest son and daughter will miss that window. I'm hoping the birds will still be hot-n-horny later in the season so we can (hopefully) get up higher as the snow melts and into less pressured birds. I don't have any private land access for turkey.

It's kind of hard to hunt them on my place since they roost on my building roofs and adjacent trees. Sometimes I have to kick them off the porch. I guess I could chase them and get them to fly, then do some wing shooting.  :dunno:

Thanks Onehorn, my kids will still be youth when we get back.  :chuckle:

I'd bet there a few guys on here that might take you up on that offer. It's great to take kids out, and really kind of folks like yourself to offer.

I took a bird on Dec 12 during the permit season, but didn't even make it to Christmas without being antsy for April's opener ... it intensifies exponentially as the days are going by ... the pictures and stories are great but I'm dying here ... 4 more weeks ... just 4 more weeks ... arrrggggggghhhhhh !!!!!!

Yep, can't wait. I've been pouring over maps like they are the gospel, always looking for that new spot. Next week I'll start scouting, then from there on at least one or two days a week until the opener. Then my professors will hate me, I'll never be in class.

I'm getting wicked pumped for turkey season.  I'm hooking up with a couple guys off here at various times in the season.  Going to set my ground blind up about a week before the opener.

One horn, maybe you could place a posting in the troops section. There might be a soldier overseas that has a youth that would love to go hunting. They may not have any connections here. A buddy did that for me and my son. Although my son wasn't able to actually hunt yet, he had a blast, and I will always be grateful for what he did.

Good God!  Its driving me crazy waiting for opening day :bash: All I want to do is talk turkey and I have not been able to see or talk to my partners.  Put up a turkey picture on my desktop at work just to dream.  I am like a kid waiting for Christmas morning :'(
