Peninsula antlerless tag?
« on: August 18, 2018, 08:37:05 AM »
New for me and permit system.  Drew the one '65 and over' archery antlerless tag Peninsula area (602, 607, 612, 615) for Sept. 8-20.  Haven't hunted this area and will likely camp & hunt alone on public land.  Any suggestions on dispersed camping locations, or where to concentrate my efforts appreciated.  Plan this year is to put meat in an empty freezer, and help others do the same.
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

607 and 615 tend to have the most public land that is accessible (DNR and USFS).  612 and 602 would need some kind of Rayonier permit to get some acreage to play in.
Lots of spots for dispersed camping in 607 especially if you go in from behind the Forks Industrial park and drive along the old 29 road (I see quite a few camps on the spurs).  The south boundary for that unit is elky too, but the camping would be in the parking lot.  The trail from there is a really easy grade along the bogachiel river, but can be popular.
615 has lots of DNR land and you can find spots to camp, lots of old landings and former gravel pits/dumps.
Lots of people in those units, so you'll probably hear 'bugling' all day long.
