Quote from: Matth on August 30, 2018, 08:31:10 AMI think some are giving these critters to much credit. most of us are hunting the first legal elk that we find, and the 2.5 to 4.5 year old ones are the ones that we are getting. This age class of bull, although not dumb is fairly tough to educate to the point that they can't be called in while they are rutting. On more than one occasion i have called the same bull in multiple times in the same season, it's all about finding one that is ready. Now on the other hand when we start talking about the older, and more mature animals they are very well educated, by life. The bull that lives long enough to become a solitary animal when not rutting, is the bull that is very easily educated, but lets face it he is not the one most of us are hunting. So what you're saying is... Sex-crazed males, no matter the species, can be readily lured into their own demise?

"Regress" may be an elkier term
