Arrow Recommendation
«

This is my second year drawing multi season so i decided if im gonna keep putting in for it i'm going to get a better bow. I bought a diamond Black Ice for 200 bucks from my cousin all set up with these fancy fiber optic sights and camo quiver whisker biscuit etc all new stuff to me. Last season I was using my uncles old martin and had some beman ICS hunter 400's 29 inch @ 8.4 GPI with 100 grain sonic heads (gear that I inherited as well, my entire family bowhunts and I didn't really know a whole lot about bowhunting). So I hunted all season with this old bow and wasn't very happy with it. When i got my new bow I had it re-set to 30 inch draw length and have been using the same arrows at a new 70lb draw. I've got it sighted in and gapped 20, 30, 40, and 50. Last night I realized that my arrows were about 50 grains short of the legal minimum D:. So, I need new arrows and was wondering whether I should get 300's or 340's. What would work better for hunting deer? do you want to go as light as possible? My apologies for being so clueless all i know is that its a sweet bow and i'm shooting tiny groups with it but i can't hunt with my arrows now lol.

Well you did the right thing by asking questions. There are several knowledgeable guys on here that will know exactly what to use.

Here is easton's arrow chart for hunting....
http://www.eastonarchery.com/products/selection
Just enter your info into the fields provided and it should tell you what arrows will work. If not go to a pro shop they will look on the chart and tell you what you need and work the best.
Looks like 300s would be your best bet. That is if you cut them to 31"
If you cut them to 29" it recommends the 340s.
It is just going to depend on what length of arrow you shoot.

You probably want to go with something that is in the middle, not real heavy but not really light. That way you get a blend of an arrow that will still give you good speed and penetration. Though everyone is going to have a different opinion on the subject. It just really comes down to personal preference.
Check out the easton n-fused carbon arrows or if you want a heavier arrow look at the Full Metal Jackets.

Congrat on the Black Ice. It's one nice shooting bow.
What's your price range? How many pounds are you shooting? Just throwing suggestions, I'd go with Carbon Express, Easton Axis or Full Metal Jacket.

I use the same arrow for everything, Beman ICS Hunter 340 tipped with a Thunderhead 85. I have taken deer, elk and moose with the same 390gr. setup so don't be thinking you need a different arrow for each big game animal, just get good at placing your shot and any of them will give you the results you're looking for.

shoot a 300 at 31 in.. that will be perfect.. a stiffer arrow is always better as is a slightly heavier arrow for penetration

That is how I have always had my arrows cut is an inch more than my draw. I know some people have them cut shorter though.

dont want to be any shorter than that, easy to make your hand the broadheads target.
