Burris Speed Bead

has anyone tried out the new Burris Speed Bead sight. It has some unique technology that allows the red dot to correctly lead whatever you are shooting at. Pretty expensive, about $250 discounted. mounts on your shotgun directly between the butt stock and reciever so the mount is very solid.

I got one this year for my Franchi.  The mount is absolutely ingenious.  It is a great teaching aid and gives you a visual reference of where you are leading when the shot breaks. You need to concetrate on not using it to aim though and still focus on the bird.  I am left eye dominant and right handed, so I tend to pull shots to the left.  This helped my adjust my lead on the birds and seems to correct this problem.

I used it for a lot of upland and duck this year and I was much improved percentage wise over last year. Weather is hard to keep off of it in the duck blind though.  I will be using it for turkey as well.

Once I got dialed in at the range and the first few hunts, If I forgot to turn it on, I was still hitting birds, so I liked that it did not become a crutch, but allowed me to improve my shotgunning by giving me feedback while shooting.

those are legel for up;and/waterfowl hunting? wasnt sure, thought you couldnt have and optics on shotguns for hunting and when I went to look it up couldnt find the rule..... hmmmm

Nope,

Muzzleloaders are the only resticted weapon for optics from all my reading.

Never seen one.  I want to be open minded but I gotta admit I'm skeptical.   

Always open to a better mouse trap but I tend to believe that many new mouse traps catch mouse hunters as opposed to mice.

It won't solve problems with your fundamentals that is true.  But it is a great training aid as I said.  After using it this year.  I can see using it at the range and for Turkey, but it takes too much abuse during upland and duck.

Been thinking about one for the 870 coyote gun. nobody using one yet? I would like to hear about hands-on use also.

Hi Dave, nothing special, deaddog choke tube, gobbler dot sights, factory 28" barrel. I just dont use that gun for much else, hence I call it a yote gun. One of my partners used that gun a few weeks ago, he hit a big male at 65yds with 00 buckshot, with that 28" barrel and deaddog tube, it looked like the full load hit him in the ribs, nice tight pattern, ya dont get many runoffs with it.

To tell you the truth Dave, I dont know, Ill put a micrometer on it tonight and let you know, I think they may be close. I only shoot buckshot out of the 12ga, use a rem-700 vssf 223cal for the longer shots. I normaly just use the shotgun in no rifle areas.

Well no need to mic, the I.D. was printed on the tube .680, its an extended tube, ported, made by Promos, it,s called- Randy Anderson,s Dead dog. I swear by it for buckshot.
