POI and Supressors
« on: September 21, 2018, 05:32:56 PM »
Might be a stupid question, but if I put a suppressor on a rifle and have to take it off after every use to put it in my safe do I need to re zero every time I put it back on?

I'm assuming I'd shoot the rifle with it on 100% of the time.

In my internet commando zero exp I say maybe.  Watched a bunch of youtube and have seen some where the answer is no. Seen some where the gun shoots completely different with and without. I think you gotta.....like load testing.....let the gun tell you once you start shooting. Looking forward to first hand replies from those experienced.

My rifles shoot different with vs without suppressors. But I find my surefires hold a zero between uses and I don’t have to re-zero them each time. Make sure you test ammo with the suppresssors on as I have found some behave differently suppressed than not.

Thanks, both of you. Say I sight in the rifle and then take the supressor off throw it in the safe, or travel case, and put it back on to go hunt do I need to check zero again. Or can I put it immediately on and go hunt?

You should be able to put it on and go once you have it zero’d.

Yep, put it together and go and you should be fine.  I have a friend that always takes his off and his zero is always fine when he puts it back on.  I'm paranoid about it so I still leave mine on all the time.
