Very sad, and totally preventable.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Unbelievably sad story how hard is it to make sure you have a good backstop when target practicing you don't  just shoot into the woods assuming your bullet will be stopped by a tree  prayers sent to friends and family

The verges on "freak". Trees and bushes downrange obscuring a view of a road beyond. A back road besides, so probably no other traffic. The odds are almost astronomical that someone would be hurt. Very tragic. I'm not making any excuses for the shooter. It's just a huge set of circumstances which led to this death. A proper backstop would've avoided this.

I share in their anger.

I'm sure their grief is beyond my comprehension.

The number 1 rule for shooting.....Know your target and what lies beyond it. So sad and yes, 100% preventable. Will make for a great discussion with my 12 year old tonight!

Several hundred feet. Who sets up a shooting site with a road several hundred feet on the back side. Makes me sick to my stomach. Bad enough that most people shooting on public land leave their trash but to not verify what's down range . Wow.

This is very sad to hear, makes my gut ache.

Drove by 2 of these "shooting areas" this weekend coming out of the woods and am very surprised of the trash and the targets being set up on the hills that people have started to use that are outside of these areas.

My condolences to the family.

  • In God I trust...Try taking that away from me!
I'm a fanatic about backgrounds when hunting and target practice. I would never want to be responsible for a tragedy like this one, there are many folks in the woods and surrounding areas. Prayers for this family,a pain I couldn't imagine
