I want a 209 fired muzzleloader for this season since percussion caps are a pain in the booty! Local shop has the Optima with open sights and enclosed 209 breech plug for $320. Gun feels good, looks good, what is everyone's experience with them?

I just got one about a month ago and love it. I put a rear peep on it and it shoots pretty accurate for me using 250 grain SST's with 2 white hots.

Which rear peep did you get? Williams? Direct bolt on? I'm not a huge fan of fiber optic sights for front and rear.

I own 2 of them and both shoot very well. I use Blackhorn 209 powder and the Barnes T-EZ 290gr . Shot it yesterday with 100 gr of powder at 100 with 2 shots touching and 3rd 1 " away. I put a Williams peep on it and could not gain enough elevation to shoot past 80 yards so I ended up buying a lower front sight for it. If you plan on shooting Blackhorn powder you need the Blackhorn breech plug
