Finally finished...
« on: March 17, 2009, 11:05:15 PM »
Well, got the scope in today.  Took the time and mounted it and did a little cleaning job on her before I pieced it all back together.

Still need to bed it.

NICE! Tell us more please. What kind of scope is that? Looks like a Pelican case AJ.

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me to.

Pelican case is from LA Police gear, they were having some sales.  Which reminds me.  I have the one just shorter than this that will fit an M4 or a Ruger 10/22 that I have to get rid of (ordered the wrong one and the guy's at LA Police Gear have been real good to me, so I figure I'll let em keep my business and not return it).

http://www.lapolicegear.com/pe17ca2.html

The barrel is made my Lilja, it's a 27" 1 in 7 twist.  It's finished at 29" with an Opsinc brake on it.

You should probably expect a long wait, not sure they might be caught up but I was told they're back ordered for a few months... everybody is... all these guy's are trying to get their long range rigs finished in the event it becomes illegal.

Also check out Mike Rock's barrels.
A guy I work with has one of Mike's on his .308 and swears by it.

Shilen also makes nice barrels, had some experience with those.

7 twist?  Holy crap!  What bullet?  I know a 9 twist will stabilize a 180 berger.  That is a sweet rig.  I am working on the same-kinda thing except an STW with a 30" 9 twist hart on a Borden action.  Let us know how it shoots.

nice rig...whats the weight?

A Remington 700P action from a .300 WM that has been trued
A 7mm Rem Ultra barrel from Lilja
The twist is 1:7(Will take 200 - 210 custom made rounds with BC through the damn roof)
The Rifle has an OpsInc brake on it, barrel is finished at 29".
Stock is a B&C Medalist series
Badger rail with 8-40 screws.
Knob is a Badger knob.
Rings are Burris LOW XTR's
Scope for now is a Millet TRS-1 4-16x50
Recommended HIGHLY for the price, I picked it up used for 265.  It was kinda dark last night but next to a Leupold it looked damn near on par.  Has a solid click on the adjustment knobs.  All around I like it right now, and can't go wrong for the money.  If I'm not impressed it'll go on a 10/22 or something and I'll break down and buy a Nightforce.

Not certain on the weight yet, however it's pretty damn heavy.  I'll let ya know later today if I can get it weighed tonight.

No, It looks and performs just as well for half the price :)

The only thing this doesn't have is the thumbwheel adjustment for the cheek piece.  Yet B&C threw in a nice little slider rail up front and u can add like 20( lol ) sling swivels studs if you wanted by just sliding it in and tightening the tension screw.  Rather nice.

And thank you for all the compliments guys.  Was a rather cheap build considering the costs of a lot of rifles.

Please tell me there's some kind of bird or something named a tweaker you might be considering obliterating with a 7mm?

Cause if it's what I think it is hehe, that's hilarious.   :hunter:    :camp: :stirthepot:
