A week in Selway Zone 15th-22nd montana road - didn't see an animal.  Did see one on game cam at midnight.  Talked to half-dozen camps including several backpack hunters.  No one saw an animal.

I also spent 8 days in the Selway. Did not see a single elk!  Rode 16 miles on horseback one day. Plus a lot of walking) and did not see any. Unimaginable.

There are animals there but nocturnal unless u hit the rut perfect.
