Persistence paid off
« on: September 07, 2018, 07:40:12 AM »
We are typically muledeer hunters but I put out some cameras every year on our place in Wyoming to see what we have for whitetail and after pulling cards for the first 2 week set the Mrs immediate said I want him. The very first image 3 hours after I hung the camera was a solid 6x6 with a club dropper! Unfortunately the club was a broken G3 that he broke off when shedding his velvet. I immediately started setting blinds and stands along with concentrating more cameras in that vicinity. After a long 6 weeks and realizing this buck was a major roamer we focused on one stand he seemed to walk by the most often. Opening day she went and set in the stand and did so the next 5 days finally September 5th on her birthday I went and sat with her on the way down we discussed sitting in another stand closer to the bedding area but she was adamant that she wanted to keep sitting this stand. It was 6:30 when she about jumped out of her seat when I looked over where she was looking I could see the tines of this buck and my heart started racing I can only imagine hers “well I could hear it 😂”  he seemed to stand at the edge of the thick timber forever when finally he started walking down the trail 45 yards 35 yards 30 yards and goes behind a tree she draws 26 yards quarter to she stops him and buries the rage about 18” into that perfect quarter to pocket 🤯 he takes off on the death run and crashes in less than 30 yards..

Congrats to you both!  I sure miss archery hunting whitetails in Wyoming!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
