Scent "Killer" for Bear ??

Does anybody use any scent killers when bear hunting? I usually watch the wind when moving or in the position waiting, but in this place I'm hunting the nature wins everytime, it's hard to avoid the wind. I'm guessing it's the reason I can't connect with the yogi, but he's in the area for sure, I know that !
Does it help? Is it worth it?

There's a way to make one from hydrogen peroxide and baking soda that will barely cost pennies. I thought I'd give a try, maybe it helps in some way

Just think about all the ways you have scent:  breakfast, snacks in your pack, sweat, feet, breath, hair, equipment, sitting in your truck, walking through a parking lot, the list is endless.

Every time I get home, the dog smells me to see what I have been up to.  I smell nothing but she does.

I read a book about how dogs sense of smell works.  The biggest difference is they smell individual scents where we blend them.  We smell chili on the stove but dogs make out each ingredient individually.  That is why cover scents are useless.

I don’t know if big game is the same but I bet they are closer to dogs than us.

But, a ton of scent stuff is sold every year so do what you think is best.

I don't use it, but I've also never killed a bear. My guess is it probably doesn't help a whole lot as bears have one of the keenest senses of smell out there. It probably can't hurt though.

I never buy those kinda things, but it doesn't cost me anything to make one at home. Will give it a try, pretty sure if it doesn't help, it won't hurt either.
 It just gets in your head when you meet these people who hunt from tree stands and stuff that swear by those scent killers

Wash your hair with some anise oil ,then use some vanilla extract for daily odor.I would think you'll have that bear in no time.

The guys I know that swear by it, take it to a new level though. They keep their hunting clothes in hefty bags separated from everything else. They only put them on once they are out of their truck and starting their walk. They change boots, socks, underwear, everything. Once they change, they spray themselves down again.

I think this probably helps some if your walk to your stand is short/not very strenuous. As soon as you start sweating, its game over. I think that's why most western hunters just don't believe in the stuff, or see any benefit to it.

Exactly.Bears don't care as much as [people think they do.That's why hikers and berry pickers are advised to make some noise so not to surprise them.I've walked in on a few within 10 feet,Luckily all have either came home with me or ran off as fast as they could.That said if there was a scent block that worked like a newborn deer or elk then that would be worth buying.

When a leaf falls in the woods - the hawk sees it, the deer hears it, but the bear smells it.

Seriously - if you want a bear that is easily fooled, go to the back side of a neighborhood where they roam. They are habituated in many rural areas and easy to get close to.
Just sit on a trail near homes. Make sure you are within arrow distance of a house. That's where they usually are these days. Those bruins are fattened-up and ready for the sausage pan!

And some of them spray themselves down with.....uhmmm, well, I guess I can't say.

I was calling bears a couple years ago with an RRCALL and called one up to the front of my pickup hood, literally. I was standing next to the truck front door, 5 feet from him in Levis and a hickory shirt. No scent spray. I didn't even hear him come up the steep incline with lots of gravel. He took off just as silent...

True that. Used to actually use smoke to cover the scents on my foothold traps and snares back in Europe.

@frogman338 bears are just too cool when it comes to their nose, but you can try your DIY scent cover and see if it does anything. Good luck!
