Google Earth GMU Overlays?
« on: September 18, 2018, 07:33:13 AM »
Does anyone know where I can download Washington State google earth overlay that has GMU boundaries? I did a little searching online but did not find any for WA.

Google earth is superior to onxmaps. I do use both. I'll use onx fo find an area that is accessible then I'll go to Google earth to do the vast majority of my scouting/research.

What makes Google Earth superior to ONX? I thought ONX was mostly just Google Earth with various layers that are relevant to hunting.

I like the 3D satellite views that are available through Google but not OnX.

That's a good point. I've really found 3D views to be very helpful when scouting from my computer. Can you use the Google Earth app in the field without cell service like you can with OnX?

This is the one you're looking for.

Keep in mind that overlay was created from data from 2008.  I have no particular reason to think that data is not current.  But ten years is ten years.

With Google Earth you get a 3D view that you can look at from any angle and distance. The image quality is much more clear and define...you also have the ability to look at several different years of aerial imagery for every location. The ease of navigation is easier and faster. I can look at country 10x faster and more thoroughly on GE than Onx . These are the big ones for me, but google earth has a crap load of different tools and features that are extremely useful.  My general cyber scouting consists of looking at ONXmaps to find an area that can be accessed/hunted. Then i switch over to GE to scour the area. I then find areas/landmarks that I want to investigate and mark those on my Onxmaps and save them offline. then when im in the field i reference Onxmaps on my phone to get me to the areas Im interested in.
